We accept all credit cards and interact. Sessions must be paid in advance and we will not provide services without payment.

We will refund your session fee if you provide 24 hours notice. There is a $5 fee for cancelled sessions so we can recover our costs.

Can I claim my sessions for insurance purposes?

For counsellors or therapists who belong to a regulated profession (social work, psychiatric nursing, etc), you should check with your insurance company- the receipt you are provided should be sufficient to submit a claim.

What does "regulated" and "unregulated" counselling mean?

In Manitoba counselling is not a regulated field, meaning anyone can use the term counsellor. At Divergent Counselling we have counsellors who belong to regulated fields (psychiatric nursing, social work), and counsellors who do not belong to regulated fields. The counsellors who do not belong to regulated fields have been chosen based on their experience and qualifications and are capable of supporting you. All Divergent Counselling staff are under the supervision of John Jackson, RPN.

What is a peer support counsellor?

Peer support refers to when people who have lived experience in the difficulty at hand, provide support to people going through similar changes. This is a unique perspective which many people seek out.
